Pat Scoggin

On Tues. May 6, 2008 the Animal Aid Society lost our long-time volunteer and benefactor Pat Scoggin.
Pat was absolutely devoted to the Animal Aid Society and worked tirelessly to help the plight of stray
and homeless dogs in Hampton and surrounding areas. Those who knew him will always remember
his generosity and kindness. He will be sadly missed.

The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, Armistead Ave. Hampton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon Saturday, May 10, at Orcutt Baptist Church.
Internment at Greenlawn Memorial Park will be held privately.
Please Send Your Donations to: Animal Aid Society, P.O. Box 1865, Grafton, VA 23692
Our United Way donation code is 9226. You may find this a more convenient way to support our shelter.

Three of Betsy's Puppies in Need of Surgery

Betsy pregant.JPG - 15727 Bytes Betsy was brought to the shelter after being found on the side of a road. Just a few days later, in the care and comfort of her new foster home, she gave birth to eleven puppies. All the puppies are doing well, but Angelica, Minnie and Mickey have been diagnosed as having PDA, Patent Ductus Arteriosus, something like a hole in the heart. Without correction, patients usually progress to left-sided congestive heart failure, for which mortality is very high. Fortunately PDA can be repaired and prognosis is excellent for a long, normal life.

Lynn's puppies.JPG - 30047 Bytes Animal Aid intends to do all we can to save these puppies
and because the cost of this surgery and after-care is at
least $2,000 plus for each puppy, we are asking for your help.
Please help to give these adorable puppies a chance at life.

The Animal Aid Society is a "no-kill" dog shelter. It is a nonprofit organization which receives no funding from state or federal agencies. All of the funds required to maintain the shelter and care for the dogs come from donations and special fund-raising events. Donations to the shelter are tax deductible. Our mailing address for donations is :

Our dogs are not euthanized. Dogs are kept at the shelter until placed in a home; however, this means that new dogs can only be accepted by the shelter after previous ones have been adopted or permanently placed in foster care. All our dogs are examined by a veterinarian and receive medical care as needed. They are current on vaccinations and are spayed or neutered. The adoption fee is $100.00.
